Circle Bros is in fact a one-man band. Wim does everything. This 'post-rock
type of thing' started late 1997 as a bedroom project. He has released a handful
of full length tapes and eps on morc, as well as a split 12" with zent
one and a bunch of compilation appearances.
The current sound of
Circle Bros was more or less created along with the tape "Seesaw", where
references to bands like Windy and Carl and Azusa plane were pretty clear, though
Circle Bros songs are more structured like popsongs. Songs of this tape ended
up on various compilation albums.
By the time ' Bitter
dream' was released Circle Brothers started doing some select live appearances,
during which he shared stage with the likes of Crescent, Movietone, Ordinary Seaman+wio,
Zent one, Inu Yaroh, Köhn, Ovil Bianca and R.O.T.
Apart form an
exclusive compilation track on the cd 'card-carrying
supporters of romance', no new material was released in two years , utill
the split 12" with Zent one came out, on which one song even has vocals,
which indicates the evolution of circle bros. The pop element has become clearer
on every new recording, though the roots as a drone-outfit remain clear.
after another 2 year silence, it seems a few new releases came out in 2004:
a track on the weemoed met verbrand konijn' tape comp on imvated, and the collaboration
10" with karina esp. after both
bands got to know eachother, and noticed the similarities, some tape-trading was
done. so the songs are partially recorded in the uk, partially in belgium. the
result was pressed on transparent vinyl in new zealand, and some beautiful artwork
was done in the netherlands.
