Gang wizard sure is a mysterious band... as for what we know, gang wizard is christopher b, mike l, and jake a. they record in oxnard, mission hills, and orange california straight to 4 track, no overdubs . We heard rumours that more people joined this band. But who knows? Some people try to make pictures of the gang wizard live apearances. for some reason, this never works out. Probably their sonic powers are to disturbing for the lenses.

The band debuted with their untitled 12" back in 1997 or so. This one is definatley more song-oriented than their later output. With song-oriented, we mean: there is obviously a beginning and an end to the songs. somewhere. back in those days, Trumans Water and I'm Being Good were pretty good references. The current sounds will remind you more of Dead C and Hoovercraft.

Now they record every several months in oregon or california. they've released about a million of split 7"s and plan to do more. they've collaborated with minmae, wio, and phil from mandorris. there will be some more lathe cut records and things released here and there. they have a few comp tracks out as well.

on morc, they released the tape 'meet me at merkato'. of noisy punk screaming, distorted guitars, and riffage galore, a collaboritve track with wio on the cd 'card-carrying supporters of romance' and their debut cd 'el cortez buy y'a drink ', was released by TEN labels, including deathbomb arc, unread, old gold, bbptc, and last but not least ecstatic peace thurston moore's hobby label.
