Filip Gheysen started in 1996 as The Imperturbable Ordinary Seaman, inspired
by the music of Smog and Daniel Johnston. He dropped imperturbable because that
didn' t sound catchy enough. So after recording a few lofi popsongs filip got
more interested in the experimental side of music. So maybe you can
describe The Ordinary Seaman as melancholic experimental songs in combination
with noise. The morc tape is less noisy though, definately his most poppy outlet.
guitars, vocals and a drumbeat, that's the recipe... It seems that filip
is very busy with collaborations: he has worked with wio, Jurgen Deblonde (aka
Kohn) Laurent cartuyvels of Toss, and is/was in several other projects, like ROT,
random reflections; alpha, picturesque (who toured with the japanese jazz-core
band Inu Yaroh) Most of these projects did some kind of release on filip's own
glasvocht records.
