final episode of the year. the only 2022-releases you'll hear in this episode are archival releases though (patty waters, amateur hour, nova scotia). so: plenty of older material here- most artists in this episode have been favorties here at morc hq for 15-25 years. we recorded this the day before we heard that wouter van veldhoven did a new collaboration with mariska of soccer committee. and two days before angelo badalamenti passed away - he wrote the music of the julee cruise track we're playing here. on a brighter note: a couple of songs are dedicated to jochen, who just joined the morc team.

As promised in the previous episode: we're kicking of with a track by Roxane Métayer from her split lp with Pefkin that just came out. we owed you that. great way to start! but: plenty of other new releases in this episode too (princess diana of wales, lise barkas, the idealist) as well as old favorites (pj harvey, liars, bridget hayden). and we're talking about recent/upcoming shows (warm currency, pj harvey, oh-ok/magnapop, la merde) and a KILLER exclusive track: puddle parade performing a song by soccer Committee, how about that?

the best part is when we can premiere an upcoming release, no? we'll start this episode with a track from the upcoming Pefkin / Roxane Métayer lp. no need to tell you: this will a good one. you'll hear that from the opening song of this episode, 'The lunar pull', by Pefkin. which happens to be the first song from the split lp as well. and further in the episode: it's a bit all over the place: old and new (luc van acker or jon collin), from far away or close to home (Cat's miaow or Puddle parade, regulars and new names (raymond byron and it hurts), danceable or abstract (liaisons dangereuses or zim zim zim). it all makes sense though.

Morcfm episode 15 is a one hour long special. About my friend mkl anderson, who's touring Europe the next month. You probably know him best as Drekka, but in this special, i'm playing tracks by quite a few related bands too. The opening track is the very first drekka track i heard myself. It's a good starting point, i can tell you. Further in this episode: more tracks he played on, mastered, introduced me to, or released on his fenomenal Bluesanct-label. i'll be seeing him live in brussels this weekend, hope to see you there.

If we met up somewhere between 2007-2012, chances are that i told you that Castanets was my favorite 'new' band. Ray Raposa released a string of incredible albums around that time, records that i still listen often to, especially 'City of Refuge'. His live shows, aspecially with Castanets as a duo, were always quite an event too. turns out Ray had a new album ready, under his own name. Ray passed away last month. we'll play some of our favorite songs of his.
also: quite a few songs from releases we picked up while on holiday in the uk. and older lofi and janglepop. exclusive of the month is not that exclusive: you'll hear a track by Frank Peck, that we put out on a tape in 2002 and hasen't been played online anywhere, to the best of my knowledge...

Looking back, this kind of is the 'classic rock' episode of morc fm. not just because we're playing a few gems by The Cure and The Cramps (of course not the classic hits, but what did you expect?). but mostly inhouse favorites like Flying Saucer Attack, Arab Strap and Windy & Carl fit in. and we even have a 1956 (not quite rock-)track by Burl Ives. we also see the return of no less than four artists we've played before. Goldscammer, because Tim just self-released a new tape which reminds us of… Drekka. and there's a show announcement for Annelies Monseré + an exclusive collaboration of circle bros and Wio. + more!

shorter songs, less talking: we managed to get 15 tracks in one hour. and still: a varied selection of what we've been listening to lately. including a couple of all time favorites (shirley collins, TJO, HTRK, Pan American), some new discoveries (Warm Currency, Father you see queen, Cindy) and some things that were on our 'to be played' list for a while. a fairly melodic episode. because that's what people listen to in the summer, no?

ah, a special about Luster! the debut album of Luster is coming up later this month, so we thought it'd be a good idea give an insight in the world of this band. a short spotlight on each member and their musical projects, plus a few related acts too. a particulary fun episode to make, and hopefully to listen to as well (also: check out their debut lp!)

listening back, this is a pretty downtempo episode. quite a bit of drone, but the folk, electronic and more rockoriented tracks are all pretty slow too. however: still a pretty varied episode! focus on newer releases, but quite a few of those are re-issues.

ah, a new upcoming release and a labelnight: plenty of morc-material in this episode. we'll start and close with a song from the upcoming cd 'hymnes apophatiques' by Delphine Dora, out on may 4th. and you'll hear Roxane Métayer and soccer Committee, who both will be performing at the morc labelnight at AB on april 19th. and also: recent material by freunliche kreisel, lucy duncombe, meadowsilver (feat Gayle of Pefkin!), Peter Jefferies and Wio and Jessica Moss. to top it off: all time favorites by Dead Moon and For Carnation.

so, this weekend there's the annual kraak-festival here in belgium. traditionally, you'll see at least a few of the concert highlights of the year here. and: early in the afternoon, you'll get to see Luster, who are about to put out their debut lp 'soon' on morc. so: a track premiere from that album. and some other highlights from the kraak festivals we attended the past 20+ years (Village of Savoonga, Bridget Hayden, Young Marble Giants) mixed with some new releases (Ekin fil, mess esque, ann eysermans), stuff that we only got to know recently (ela orleans, vive la void) and some old favorites.

you know we made a new issue of the morc-zine? in this radioshow, you'll only hear songs from artists featured in the magazine. so: stonecold classics by cheater slicks, iditarod, movietone, linda smith and john davis/folk implosion, newer stuff by fords fuzz inferno and dana hatch, and less known recordings by 1000 dawns and tia blake. to top it off: a song by will and dave from their legendary 1997 'k' tape, of which you really cant find a trace elsewhere online. not unreleased, but kind of an exclusive anyway. the full list:

ah, an episode that really shows what we've been listening to the past couple of weeks. new songs by Madou, Frankie Traandruppel, Filip Gheysen and Lise Barkas&Lisa Käuffert, old favorites like American Analog set or REM, some morc-related, some not. plenty of songs in the beginning, and more experimental stuff toward the end. Good to know: the exclusive is an annelies monseré song that was covered by In Gowan Ring. it was intended for a compilation with artists from the bluesanctlabel covering eachother. unfortunately, that release never saw light of day. still one of my very favorite labels. the full list:
